I used to wonder when I was growing up why the English ladies , those from the rich families would invite each other for tea. I used to read about it and those tea parties used to be big events.
There is something that happens when you invite someone for tea and biscuits or cakes.I am talking about that sister or brother at the fellowship or church you dont normally speak to.Try it and you will be amazed at how much they open up after the first cup.Is it the tea, the bread or the biscuits?Even the apostles in the book of Acts occassionally met after the fastings and prayers to break bread.Think of freshly brewed Tanganda tea, Stella Tea, Five Roses and Rooibos tea.
We started this ministry as a joke, and later has begun to grow and attract a sizeable number of brothers who I cant really say are drawn by the sweetness of the Tanganda or Mountain Dew leaves, or the Red Seal sugar but maybe it is those jokes that begin to flow from the sweetened tongues. Breaking of bread fellowship was initiated by a need to fellowship with African homies who were homesick when we are here in this Asian nation, where 2% of the population are Christians.Being Christian brothers and sisters we were seeking a way to avoid being homesick by gathering on Fridays midnight, each person with their own cup and plates of bread and banana cakes on the table.Besides the movie haouses are far away and expensive for some of us as we are not allowed to work.
Give a cup of tea to someone like Duncan,Zave(Exzevia),Gary,Kaza,Clem,Ron,Farai,Deacon Ken,Illay,Bishop (Eddy),Ken,Collins and you will get a revelations. There is one about Peter who discovered that there was a boy with lunchbox when they told Jesus that there is a boy with 2fishes and five loaves.Some wanted to know what Peter was looking for in the boy's lunch box. Then comes the famous Nyoni story. Usadherere mazimbo.
i will tell you more next time abut the new revelations.This was just an introduction.

Do you know Nyoni?
So there we were drinking Mountain Dew tea,( that is the type with the natural tea leaves that you boil for a minute to extract the rich taste) and someone started these funny jokes. Bigs up will usually go to Dunkhuvha , brother we cannot do without you!I dont know if its tea that causes people to open up and start revive their minds to think of these things or its the biscuits that go with it.
For the first joke he starts and says;
"there was this man who had left his village of Murambinda to work in the city of Harare for a year. As usual with us, he paid a visit to the village for the Christmas holiday.Laden with groceries (my guess will be Sun jam,Buttercup margarine, a dozen loaves of bread and Heinz Tomato Ketchup),he begins to feel that he is better than the village folks.
On Christmas day,he put his shirt with an Obama picture and went to drink beer with the village folks. He just had to show them that living in Harare had transformed him so he begins to brag about his knowledge of the internet,Facebook,CNN,Gaddafi,Tony Blair, Koffi Annan,UN,and all the great man you can think of.He tells them how Obama won the elections, how Undertaker won the belt from Edge and about Chris Brown's fight with Rihanna. The old village folks are just looking at him perplexed because they would rather prefer any talks about the NGOs in the area and food aid.
As he goes on bragging and all this time a tiny man is looking at him silently.Then this tiny man says to him, "do you know a man called Nyoni?".
The bragger says, "what does this Nyoni deal with? what is he famous for?Does he appear on CNN?or the Herald? Is he on facebook?"
So the tiny man replies,
"You dont know Nyoni? How can you not know Nyoni but know about Obama and Koffi Annan? You are busy knowing worthless men from other nations far away from here and you don't even bother about your village?How can you know someone from far away and yet you dont know this Nyoni who is busy with your wife?"............."

According to His Glory
Phillipians 4 v 19 says and God shall supply all my needs according to His glory riches in Christ Jesus.
I have never really understood the intensity and power of this verse because most of the time I have quoted it in distress, trying to be positive during times of adversity. Today the Holy Spirit showed me another dimension.
Jesus Christ is the King of Glory meaning that He sits on the throne of Glory.We have have heard of the glory of earthly kings, the power of their kingdoms and their riches which cannot be comprehended. Here we are talking about Christ being the King of Glory and we know that no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind has conceived the promises of those who trust in God. We have heard of the Shekinah Glory of God in Mount Sinai that even an animal that touched the mountain had to be stoned because of the intensity of the glory that descended. The children of Israel confessed and asked Moses to go alone because they feared greatly the glory that they saw. In heaven angels cry day and night that the Lamb is worth of glory.
Since the glory of God is so powerful, why then do we despair and quote this verse without power. He says your needs will be supplied according to His Glory , not according to your understanding, your power, your limit, your need or whatever interpretation you had. If you wanted bread, not only will He give you bread because His glory is not confined to bread.He will supply your need for food according to His Glory not according to your need.
Brethren lets change our mind set, great and mighty is this Glory, therefore lets ask with confidence and trust in Him. Lord Jesus I thank you for supplying my needs according to your glory.

This song by Alvin Slaughter has always touched me ever since I was young but I never really understood what he meant.
Peter and John on their way to the temple were confronted by an expectant beggar who was begging for something from their hands. Most of the time we assume that beggars want money and food. On that particular day,the Holy Spirit revealed that he wanted something more and accidentally the two apostles didnt have what the beggar was anticipating.Peter said 'Silver and gold we do not have but we will give you what we have. In the name of Jesus arise and walk'.That is a very beautiful story.
When Jesus wanted to feed the five thousand, He asked his disciples what they had and multiplied the two fishes and five loaves of bread. The widow of Zarepath had only small portion of cooking oil and flour to make a meal for herself and her son and wait to die.When she fed the man of God, her reserve never dried up.
The question today is 'what is that you have in your hands?'. Give it to God and He will multiply it for you. what do you have for the society today? Silver and gold you might not have but you can give a smile, a pat on the back, a laugh, a helping hand and tell that person arise and walk.

Jacob the strategist
In the womb he fought against his brother for dominance.He and his brother were destined to be nations.Jacob must have heard from his father Isaac how God destroyed the earth with a flood during the days of Noah, or how God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and how Abraham his grandfather entreated the Lord for Lot their realtives.He must have heard how his grandmother Sarah was barren until old age and the promise God gave Abraham.He must have marvelled about Ishmael his uncle,how God rejected him as the heir. Isaac should have always narrated the journey to Mount Moriah, how he was the sacrifice but because of obedience Abraham was accorded righteousness and they named his God Jehovah Jireh. And not forgetting God renaming Abram to Abraham.
Jacob didnt believe God will bless him thus why he stole Esau's birthright and the blessings. When he fled from Esau's face and fell asleep in Bethel, he had an encounter with the angels of God.He didnt think that God had come to visit him but he thought that this was one of the 'places' leading to heaven.Then he thought surely if God is in this place I can make a deal with Him.To Jacob, God was the God of Abraham and Isaac but not his.Thats why he said,'If you can take care of me,give me bread and accomodation,you will be my God and I will give you a tenth of everything you give me'.
Who is God to you? Is he still the God of the Bible, the God of your church or pastor? Test Him and see if He is not real. He appeared to Jacob so many times in dreams, visions and angel visitations. He can and will appear and bless us like Jacob. He will change our names from Jacob to Israel and make us a nation. Hallelujah!
